Welcome to AncestryHealth®
for Healthcare Providers

Supporting your commitment to improve the health of individuals, families, and communities.

365体育投注网站As of early 2019, more than 26 million Americans have voluntarily engaged in genetic testing—a trend that is expected to continue or even accelerate over time. This means increasing numbers of people will be turning to a healthcare provider for help interpreting their genetic test results and planning a path forward to improve their health.

365体育投注网站That’s why at Ancestry®, we’re focused on enabling access to evidence-based insights into personal genetic information that will empower people to initiate meaningful, productive conversations with a healthcare provider (HCP). This is how we believe we can best serve the growing demand for genetic testing, and ultimately help people use that information to make healthier choices in partnership with a healthcare provider.

Including healthcare providers from the start

Ancestry has partnered with PWNHealth, an independent clinician network comprised of board-certified physicians and genetic counselors1, to provide clinical oversight of AncestryHealth. Ancestry has also partnered with independent CLIA-certified laboratories that develop and perform the laboratory tests included in AncestryHealth.

AncestryHealth customer test requests are submitted to PWNHealth where each request is evaluated to determine eligibility. If a customer is eligible, a board-certified physician submits a test order to an independent CLIA-certified laboratory where the test is performed. After the test is performed, a board-certified laboratory director reviews and signs off on the test results and releases the laboratory report to a board-certified genetic counselor at PWNHealth. Laboratory reports are reviewed and results are released to the AncestryHealth online product experience.

Genetic counseling resources

All AncestryHealth customers have access to online genetic counseling resources developed by PWNHealth. These resources include an online tool to submit a question to a genetic counselor; webinars with real-time, confidential, one-to-one chat with a genetic counselor; on-demand educational videos; and one-on-one sessions with a genetic counselor, as appropriate. Access to these resources are provided to AncestryHealth customers as part of PWNHealth's services, whose fees are included in the overall price of the test.

Reports for healthcare providers

Ancestry is committed to providing information to our customers that they can share with a healthcare provider.

That’s why, within the AncestryHealth online product experience, all customers have access to an easy-to-print report designed to share with a healthcare provider. This report, written with healthcare providers in mind, consists of two items:

  1. A quick reference guide developed by PWNHealth to convey to a healthcare provider necessary information about the test results as well as clinical recommendations for managing health risk.
  2. A laboratory report issued by the independent CLIA-certified laboratory where the test was performed. The laboratory report lists the genes tested and detailed descriptions of any pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants detected, if applicable.

Educational resources from UpToDate®

As more and more people take DNA tests to gain insights into their health, healthcare providers will need current information to support patient understanding. That’s why we’ve partnered with UpToDate, the premier evidence-based resource for clinicians. Their educational resources can be used to support healthcare providers in interpreting genetic test results and translating that information for patients. Our goal in working with UpToDate is to empower healthcare professionals to have meaningful, actionable conversations with their patients.

Topics on the following genes are available from UpToDate:

1 Genetic counselors are specially trained to interpret genetic test results in the context of their patients’ personal and family health history. In addition to their graduate training in medical genetics and counseling, all PWNHealth genetic counselors are board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) and licensed in the states they serve.

AncestryHealth® includes laboratory tests developed and performed by an independent CLIA-certified laboratory partner, and with oversight from an independent clinician network of board-certified physicians and genetic counselors. The test results are not diagnostic and do not determine your overall chance of developing a disease or health condition. The tests are not cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. You should consult a healthcare provider before taking any action based on AncestryHealth® reports, including before making any treatment, dietary, or lifestyle changes. AncestryHealth® is not currently available in New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island.
